This Airfield is located adjacent to Schofield Barracks, and used to support that facility. On the 1,389 acres of Wheeler are activities of the Defense Communications Agency, the Air Force's Aerospace Defense Group, and an Army aviation brigade. The Kunia Tunnel is a large underground facility at the southern end of the base. Part of a complex of over 75 military sites on Oahu.
Wheeler Army Airfield is the site of first attack on 7 December, 1941. The Japanese attacked the airfield to prevent the numerous planes there from getting airborne and engaging them. The installation has a National Historic Landmark District in association with the attack on 7 December, 1941.

Hawaii is nice but I wouldn't like to live there more then a couple of years. Cost of living is high and once you have been there and done that it gets old.
