Squish away, girl! I do it too. You're right, it does help them hold together. Tell your friend to take a flying leap the next time she gives you trouble for being a squisher. No ones making her eat a squished sandwich and besides has she tried it? Maybe she should and she'd pipe down her squishin hatin mouf.

It's your sandwich.
You just go ahead and squish all you want.
When I make grilled cheese (with or without ham) or a Reuben or any grilled sandwich, I put a heavy plate on it while it is cooking.
Is that a form of squishing?

I uber squish.
I have been using our 2 cast irons to make sandwiches lately. I used a thick ciabatta bread and put it topdown into the cast iron with the griddle inside, then put the flat one right on top and pressed. Both cast irons were preheated, so I am a HOT squisher, too. OMG I win.

Squisher here. I like to put tuna salad, egg salad, etc. in the center of the bread so when I press it, it spreads but doesn't ooze out the sides.
I also like to put potato chips & squish them into the sandwich once in a while.
