You don't, without going to the dentist for a cleaning. We have "specialized extremely sharp instruments" that help us to scrape it off your teeth. It's "very hard" as it's taken awhile to form, so it takes some work to remove. You might be able to remove some that you see, along with a chance of harming your tissue, but most of it is below the gum line where you can't see it. That's the tartar that does damage to teeth and gums. See your dentist for a cleaning, it's much easier. After they are clean, then you can keep them that way with your excellent home care that consist of brushing and flossing twice a day. Good luck and hope I've been of some help.

Hm...if it is already calcified the only way to get rid of it is going to the dentist or to a dental hygienist for a professional cleaning. At home you can only brush at least twice a day and use the dental floss...but it is recommendable to see the dentist every 6 months.

You can remove plaque by yourself, and you can control tartar build up by brushing and flossing daily to remove the plaque before it hardens. Once it calcifies and turns into calculus (tartar), the only way to safely remove it is to have your teeth scaled by a dentist or hygienist.

Brush and floss daily. I would suggest going to the dentist before it gets too bad. They will have to do a "deep cleaning" if your not going at least twice a year for your regular cleanings. Plack and tater build up could also cause bone loss. You should really go to the dentist, even if you dont have insurance- you can get good deals.

You can buy tools like a hygienist uses at Walmart or Walgreens to try to scrape the tartar off your teeth. But the best way to remove tartar is to see your hygienist for a cleaning. Please do so. It may be a little uncomfortable, but it's worth it.

It's impossible to do it yourself even when you do brush and floss daily. It still builds up.
The only way is by a dentist.

I used a needle once, probably wasn't smart but I was carfull enough not to poke my gums, would have probably been better off with a blunter object. It worked pretty well
