no good reason. I have 3 boys, 9, 6, and 16 months. Everyone I have talked to that has boys say they all do that. They all continuously fight/argue. They do have days where they get along, but seems like there are more disagreements (maybe they're just more memorable). I'm just having a hard time (maybe it's normal, but it sure is stressful). Do you have boys and do they get along well? How do you handle them? If you are a mother of boys I would like your advise.

Yes i have two boys one 18 and one14You are not alone my dear. My boys always argued about something or other. It is not an easy task. I would sit them down and make them tell me what the fuss is this time and if they couldn't work it out i would do it for them. I told them i would take away there computer or there video games. That normally gets them talking and than we can work it out until the next time. lol.
It's not to bad anymore because my oldest is like i said 18 now, but they do still have there moments. boys will be boys lol They are the greatest boys of friends and that's what matters.

My sister-in-law has three boys all are 2 and 5 years apart. They are normal boys as well, but they seemed to be very disciplined. Of course they are going to test each other, but, those times are very few and far between. Their parents do not allow them to do that. From what I have observed, when arguments erupt; it is discussed who started it and why and the end result with some one having alot of their privileges of taken away. The other child is not off the hook either; because they were still part of the problem also gets privileges taken. So with both parties receiving punishments. They learn that fighting each other is a no win situation. It also teaches them that if they want to continue with the freedoms that their parents give them, they had better act like they have some sense.

It appears that sibling rivalry can start at any age, and a great definition I found is: "Competition between siblings for the love, affection, and attention of one or both parents or for other recognition or gain."

There could be many reasons why your children are constantly fighting and arguing, and the best thing for a parent to do is take control, ask what's bothering them, and find the perfect solution or even compromise. If they're physically fighting (e.g. punching, kicking) then maybe it could be their environment. Maybe they're watching a bit too much wrestling, or your older one is hanging out with the wrong crowd at school.

If you've ever had siblings, try to remember if there were times you would fight with them and why. Also, check out http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/emotions/feelings/sibling_rivalry.html , a site which helps parents learn what they can do to handle their children.

I have 3 children my oldest 13 and youngest 6 are boys. They will wrestle but don't really argue much. My daughter is 8, she and my 6 year old son argue like there's no tomorrow. It's probably more related to their ages.

Boys will be boys. Let them work out their differences on their own. I would have been a much stronger man if I had a brother instead of a wussy Sister growing up. Sorry Sis - Luv ya
