I'm reading a document and It has the following in it;
"This module also contains a snubber circuit for limiting voltage spikes across the free wheeling diodes and a mousetrap capacitor used to absorb high frequency, high voltage transientsinto the chopper."

I've never heard this term before either. Band-stop filters are often referred to as 'trap circuits', especially in radio electronics. Your quote, however, seems to refer to a filter capacitor in a switch mode power supply of some sort.

Sounds like someone inventing his own jargon, and wanting to appear super smart... ;-)
Zener diodes control voltage and small capacitances will eliminate high frequencies (if connected between the circuit and ground).
Also, there are filter circuits called traps, as they trap specific frequencies.

Difficult question, because I do not know what other people know.
I do not know it and this is a good answer. Useful? No.
