Take liver function tests and decide whether you have liver problems. I have abnormally high SGPT (ALT) and SGOT (AST) results. More over Ultrasound scan showed slight liver enlargement. So the doctor has asked me to stop anti-diabetic pills as it adversely affect the liver. Now I am controlling diabetes Type 2 without pills or insulin but with diet and exercise. I have been a confirmed diabetic since 1990 onwards.

Your doctor can do a blood test to determine if you have any liver problems. Physical signs would be jaundiced (yellowish) skin or eyes.

If the medicine is prescribed by your doctor, he/she will run blood work(or should)from time to time to check your liver. Usually once a year.
