Why do billions of people believe in over 1,000 different deities. If there was only one true god wouldn't they all worship the same god? Why would an all loving god sentences 2/3 of the world to hell for not knowing your god. Ohhh wait thats not an answer, how about we will wait and see when science has the answer how many people still believe in god

Billions, actually. However, the US stands alone in the developed world. Most of the developed world does not believe in God anymore.
Reason: The same reason people used to believe in Centaurs. (After all, they have a reserved seat in Dante's Inferno.)
For more information, read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins.

Because once religion came about if you said you didnt believe in god you would get burnt/killed. So the virus of religion spread way before we had enough numbers to say anything and know we wouldnt be killed for it.
Edit: Just think about it. If you are forced to believe in god and you have kids they have to believe to. So you tell them about god..etc. They grow up not knowing what you told them was a lie so they would not be killed. So now they are grown up and think it is true and pass it down to their kids.

Because for some people its not enough to believe in stories, they need to understand and know, and sometimes its not possible... Or they are just too disappointed in life to care about the God.

Fear of death.
We're afraid to die, and we don't want it to be the end, despite all the evidence pointing to it being so. So they dream up another life after it. But in their dreaming they want it better, because they get disappointed, so they make it different from ours, a life they think they deserve. And because there are people they don't like, they don't want the thought of sharing another world with them, so they mkae criteria for getting there, ones they fulfill but those they don't like do not fulfill.
It really isn't that complicated.

because they were taken , at a very young age, to church by their parents. they were told , on a weekly basis , by preachers, family members, friends, that if they didnt believe, they would spend eternity roasting in hell.
why do christians easily write off islam, buddism, hinduism and the rest of religions as a waste of time worshipping a false god, but cant understand it when someone questions their religion?

Yes, and the entire world though that our planet was flat for centuries. Regardless of the number of people who believe that something is the truth, does not make it the truth.
