I took the same drug...side effect of coughing was gone in several weeks as the md said. Sometimes doctors arent too bright. Did he put you on a medication to replace the zestril and if he did, is the drug in the same family? If so, the side effects wil be the same. In any event, the coughing should have stopped.

Do certain things make the cough worse? cold drinks, milk, ice cream, excerise? Worse at night or in the morning?

What type of cough is it? Barky cough, or wet cough, etc.

It may be something else entirely...for sure visit a doctor and have it checked out, a cough shouldn't last that long.

You may consider have allergy tests done also, perhaps you're allergic to something in your home.

Going to the doctor is a great suggestion but until you are able to see him or her try soothing it. Hot tea with honey and lemon. (not my favorite) Green tea works great as substitute. A steaming hot shower with lots of warm mist or vaporizer also helps. If nothing else suck on a piece of hard candy or cough lozenge.
