Your question demands a huge explanation. Firstly, the British rulers in an effort to consolidate resorted to driving a rift between the Hindus and Muslims by disinformation. This they had to do to offset a joint Hindu Muslim front against them to gain freedom from the British rule. Secondly the hawks from both the communities in order to gain ascendancy in the prevalent political setup whipped up communal passions. Muslim staying here did prove that being muslim does not mean being anti - India....in fact muslims have contributed in their own way in the welfare and defence of independent india...Hindus mostly had to vacate Pakistan since that country had declared itself to be a haven for muslims although Mr. Jinnah in his famous speech allayed all such fears...still ALL Hindus were not forced out of Pakistan...witness the presence of a Sikh military officer in Pak army or the presence of spin bowler in Pak cricket team...but yes...India is definitely far more secular than most of the other countries...

It was because of religious reasons. There just happened to be more of one particular religion in a certain area. Hindus were forced out of Pakistan because radical Muslims don't except other religions besides theirs. They are probably the least tolerant and dangerous religions. You don't hear about many Lutheran or Southern Baptist terrorists or suicide bombers running around. ;)

religious hatred -the new oxymoron.

in fact england stayed in india for 100 years, hoping to leave things in a good state of affairs.

what actually happened when they left was a civil war where a million people died and the partition of pakistan.

i think there's a lesson here for america - regardless of how long we stay in iraq, what's to happen wil happen...
