Good things are happening.

Schools, roads, bridges, and hospitals are being built.

Elections are being held.

The Iraqi judiciary system sucessfully prosecuted a murderous dictator.

80% of terrorist and insurgent activity has been confined to within 50 miles of Baghdad.

There is a rough road ahead, but don't let the media fool you into thinking that there are no silver linings.

not possible.

americans wanted war in iraq because we thought that we'd be getting some payback for 9/11 - but all of the connections that the admin made between 9/11 and iraq were lies.

iraq also has nothing to do with the larger war on terror.

it's not possible to be optimistic about a war that is completely unecessary and so mutually destructive to all that are involved in it.

i just don't see how you can be 'optimistic' about any war anyway...

The recent crackdown has decreased daily bloodshed for now, although it's still early and this is a preliminary statistic.

Not much the US' doing, but the British have been able to fully return control of Basra to the Iraqis.

Just watch Fox News 24/7. They will always tell you what you wanted to hear.

Building schools, eh?. But no Iraqi youths are ever attending schools now. They prefer to stay at home, where it's much safer.

We have succesfully allowed al-Qaeda into their enemies nation (Iraq was an enemy of al-Qaeda). We have succesfully allowed a Shiite Islamic Revolutionary government to be elected with strong ties to Iran. We have succesfully destroyed Iraq's infrastructure and caused the deaths of at least a hundred thousand innocent people and probably hundreds of thousands.
We have successfully committed the crime of torture.

well we are stealing oil so we can drive our suv......thats a positive effect on our part.
