Some of the legitimate online music stores also sell prepaid cards so you can still get your music legally without having to have a credit card.

As far as I am aware, you must download some software in order to download music. I use Limewire even though there are a few bugs on there now and then. But if you know what to look out for, you will be ok... Although there is another alternative. I found this site called www.pandora.com or net. And it plays you fav tunes online. So I found a few on there which I could not find on any p2p progs... So I download a program that records what is playing and saves it to MP3. So I managed to get the whole album.
p.s does take sometime though as it's more like a personal radio station.

Google>amazon free music downloads>click first link>sign up
You can make an alias if you want and it won't ask you for credit card numbers or anything. Everything there is free. Give it a try sometime. Hope this helps. You shouldn't have to download anything to listen to the music, their in mp3 format (I think).

Try Iomoio, I've been using them for 3 years now and never got a virus. Songs are all in high quality bit rate so sound a lot better than the stuff you rip from Youtube. Register with the link below and get 2 free downloads to try them out.

If you want free music you are going to have to use file sharing software to get it and all of them (that I know of anyway) require a software installation to connect to their network.(also remember that getting music this way is considered illegal). A website offering free downloads would be way too easy to track and shut down. The only companies that offer web-based downloads are legitamet music sites that sell music (iTunes, Buymusic.com, walmart.com, etc).
