i am very curious of the effect that private schools and public school have an effect on the child's relationship with their caregiver( parents) and their peers. Do private school children have less of a relationship with their parents due to a lack of communication and consistency with their parent?

Private school sucks!!! At least the one I went to for 7 years did.

I am 30 now with my first child on the way, I wouldn't dream of wasting my money on private school for my child

Whether public or private, schools are only as good as the administration and the teachers. Having worked in both private and public schools I can honestly tell you that there are more good private schools then public, but there are quite a few good public schools too, you just have to look for them a little harder.

A child relationship with his/her caregiver (parent/guardian) is really up to the caregiver.
Children will not hurry home and talk with their caregiver if that person is not taking an active interest in the child. Whatever the relationship is between caregiver and child before they start school will be the same when they are out of school.

Schools in general, will have children there that are bad influences on other children if for no other reason than they do not have the same background as your child, nor does your child have the same background as they, thus your child may also be a bad influence on another child.

We need to stop looking to the schools, whether public or private to teach our children moral values. Parents need to do this and really shouldn’t try to get away with not teaching their children right from wrong.

I don't think it makes to much of a difference. The difference would be on the parents and how much quality time they spend with their children. Young children need guidance with homework. I think a child can get a great education at a public or private school. My son is in 4th grade at a private school and had been there since kindergarten. He is getting a excellent education. Currently he makes all A's...I hope he keeps it up thru middle and high school!

I was not so much of a fan of private school when I was there. Now that I'm 31 I have a different perspective. I think that I was well disciplined and was taught really good manners. If nothing else, I think I was taught to respect people, especially my elders...I didn't see much of that on the public school end. It was a little isolating when I was a kid though. Like the school I went to didn't really have any sports teams and we didn't mingle with many other kids. But that has changed a great deal. I think there are pluses and minuses to both school systems

Private school children usually have better relationships with their parents, because their parents actually care about them and don't want them to grow up thinking that a lot is one word or that you need to add "at" to the end of a question asking where something is.

None of them are any more real schools today. I am sad about that.
