just a gentle scrub with your toothbrush each moring on the inside surface to remove any build up is fine

listerine, you already have it it just takes seconds, same with retainers i used listerine to clean mine out back in the day, get a small water glass and fill up up enough to cover the guard and you'll be fine

I brush mine with a toothbrush and toothpaste. It works great!
