And what makes you so sure that these people are 'innocent?'
Besides - the prisoners at Gitmo are being held in conditions that _exceed_ the Geneva Convention standards for the treatment of person detained by a belligerent power in a time of armed conflict.
And the only ones who we intend to give trials to are the ones who are suspected of committing a US crime (in most cases they will be tried for specific acts that are war crimes). All the rest that we picked up are being lawfully detained (per the Geneva Conventions) as persons who do not meet the legal requirements to qualify for POW status captured by a belligerent power in time of armed conflict.
In the future I suggest that you learn what is in the Geneva Conventions before you make a fool out of yourself again.
BTW the US does follow the Geneva Conventions - we just interpret them strictly by what they say. For example: we apply the Hague rules that establish who does and who does not meet the legal requirements to qualify for 'combatant' status. The people who are claiming that the prisoners at Gitmo should be called 'POWs' are the people who are not following the Laws and Customs of War.

Post a link that can prove the US is selling these people for 5 & 10$, do you think they need 5$?
Even if the things at Guantanamo are really as bad as the drive-by media makes it seem we are still more humane than 99% of the world when it comes to prisoners ina time of war.
Also, there is no way for you to know whether these people were really terrorists or not because all you watch is CNN which is known for fabricating intelligence and making untrue statements by twisting the words of officials.
Also, a fair trial is only guaranteed by the US consitution to US citizens, other countries where these bases are do not have the same rules. You need to get out and get some culture in you and see what the real world is like outside of suburbia. OMFG, No starbucks?? What will you do!!!
Also, the Geneva convention only applies to recognized standing armys, not guerilla groups not attached to a nation.

Gee! Another expert on the Geneva Convention and international law.
1. The USA is at war with the taliban and Al Quaida. The US can hold them as long as the war lasts. If/when the enemy surrenders they can go home.
2. The Geneva convention was agreed amongst nations not groups.

Huh? But your version of it is not the truth. It is some propagandist fabrication (though it does fool the truly unintelligent).
The truth is that these are illegal combatants who have been screened by several boards to make sure they are in fact the bad guys. That's why so many have been released already - only the bad guys are left.
However, per the Geneva conventions, we would have had every right and justification and legal authority to have executed them. They are NOT protected by Geneva, because protection is only for those that follow Geneva.

They are not Criminals, they are ENEMY COMBATANTS. During wartime, those captured are not afforded access to civilian courts, never have been.
Our boys in WWII never got to challenge why they were being tortured (real torture, not waterboarding you sissy), in vietnam our fighter pilots that were captured didnt get 3 full meals and a cot to sleep on.
THEY WERE STARVED, BEATEN, TORTURED, HAD FINGERS SMASHED BY HAMMERS, ELECTROSHOCK TORTURE, AND THE LIST GOES ON!
In desert storm, our Spec Ops troops that were deep behind enemy lines and were captured had hot motor oil poured down their throats, testicles cut with knives, electrocuted...REAL TORTURE.
I am so sick of hearing people complain about the "inhumane" treatment of detainees at guantanamo bay.
They get to pray as they see fit.
They are able to keep copies of the koran (How many of our boys were given Bible's in captivity in Nam or Desert Storm?)
They are fed a diet that is Hallal in keeping with their religous traditions.
Their meals are designed to be fully nutritious (In Nam they fed our boys gruel and slop infested with bugs once a day IF they were lucky)
They are given fresh laundered clothes, clean bedding, and a cot off the ground. (when our POWs in Nam were rescued, some were wearing the same uniform they had been shot down in)
I could go on and on but you don't deserve more of my typing time.
Here is a suggestion. WORRY about OUR BOYS FOR A CHANGE! When Americans are captured in Iraq they are beheaded, or burned to a crisp and dragged through the streets before being hung from a bridge and beaten with sticks to the joy of screaming cheering crowds.
and you have the nerve to talk about Guantanamo being "inhumane"?

Fair Trial? Please. Who are you to say what's fair and what's not? I thought the right to a "fair and speedy" trial was a right set forth in the US CONSTITUTION, and in my humble opinion should be reserved for those who are actually AMERICAN CITIZENS!
As for the conditions in Gitmo? Well, it's called the Geneva convention. And also in my opinion any country that does not observe the rules set forth there-in...shouldn't be protected by them. at least we're not be-heading people for Christ's sake.

I don't know how hard you hit when you fell from the tree, but those "innocent people" were taken off a field of battle against our troops. Fair trial? They should be shot in the head and dumped in Gitmo Bay at the earliest convenience.

It is rather a disgrace. Quite hypocritical for a nation to brag about good treatment of people, about compassion for Middle Easterners and then put a detention center for them on an island thousands of miles from their home and put them in limbo for 5 years. I can't wait until they resolve that debacle.
There are bad people in Gitmo, and they should stay there. But not all of them are, and there's no way of determining who is what. It should be the picture next to 'mismanagement' in the dictionary. All it's going to do is rally the terrorists against the USA and add more fuel to the fire.

*ahem* Just butting in my two cents here...To those citing the Geneva Convention: I seem to recall reading in several places that the USA has decided the Geneva Convention doesn't apply to us.
That is all.
