I'm planning on getting one. How should I prepare? I've taken care of a stray cat when I was a child. How are they different? Any other things that I need to know just tell me. I want to make sure I'm prepared for a siamese cat. thanks...

We have a Siamese Cat named Willow and she is the most loving, sweet and gentle cat I've ever had. She is more like a dog because she tells me when anyone is coming to the door long before they knock. She greets everyone that comes over and I honestly think she feels they are coming to see her. Even if you don't like cats she still will come sit by you so you can pet her. She loves attention and showers. Yes, I said showers....she showers with me daily and I'll be in the shower washing my hair and open my eyes and she'll be in the shower behind me. If she's not in the shower then she'll wait outside and when I get out of the tub she'll cry till I drip water on her. I bought her a pet fountain and she only drinks the water out of the side that pours the fresh water out. She will tell you if she's out of food and loves when I give her canned cat food. She's is quite the talker but also will lay next to you and purrrrrr for hours on end. She also mothers the tiger cat that's 3 months younger then her and will clean her daily. I've really never had a cat before Willow so I had no idea what to expect but she has filled the need for a pet two fold because she's my cat/dog. I will always stick with this breed because of their mannerisms and unconditional love.

Hope the helps.......

I have a siamese and she is a loving sweetheart. i think that all cats no matter the breed have different personalities, but i know that most siamese are more vocal. They have more of a "cry"- the meow isnt short, they hold the note a little longer than most meows. My siemese is only 8 months old but is very active and playful. She jumps like a little kangeroo and is a riot to watch! and though lovable, doesn't really like to be picked up. She's very good with children and new people unlike my calico. I think that people exaggerate when it comes to siamese, cause a couple of people said something to me when they heard I was getting a siamese but other than her meow, she's just like any other cat.

While Siamese tend to be very talkative and energetic, not all of them are like that. Some Siamese are more laid back, and prefer to be laps cats rather than running all over the place. Really, it's about the same thing that you can expect from any other cat.

Siamese are very beautiful animals that get extremely attached to their owners. They are known to be aggressive to other people when they think there owner is being threatened. Siamese thrive on companionship so if you're not going to be with your cat very often I would suggest you get 2 siamese. But for the most part these cats are like any normal cat, love them and they will love you! Oh, and one other thing: These cats are very vocal!

They are the best! They are very intelligent and lovable as well. They are good family cats and generally get along with dogs if introduced at a young age. They are very vocal and will "talk" a lot. I've had siamese cats all my life (and other brees) and have never had any problems with them. They're actually my favorite now because of their intelligence which makes them have great personalities. They can be very inquisitive though. But they're generally a mild tempered breed.

You can expect a totally NEW experience in your life! Having kept the breed since 1977, I ought to know!!!

For a start, you will not 'own' a Siamese; your Siamese will own YOU! Your Siamese will converse with you, argue with you, go into a 'strop' at you and, what's more, it will have you running around in circles to serve up the food it REALLY fancies!!!

Your Siamese will probably be extremely vocal. My previous one, a seal-point, literally BELLOWED ... for want of a better word! My present one, a lilac-point, will throw a verbal tantrum and do as good as stamp his foot in the process!

Having said all that, your Siamese will be the most loyal companion. It can live happily with dogs, another Siamese, and, of course, YOU ... so long as you realise who's the boss in your home ... YOUR SIAMESE!!! Just love him/her to pieces!

My friend Siamese would suddenly take offence at you. I was told not to fuss it, so I didn't. I was just sitting on the chair minding my own business, and I didn't even move a muscle....and it bit my elbow! None of my cats have ever done that! It was quite loud when it talked, but it wasn't overvocal, so I think it'll depend on the character you get.

Good luck!

We have two and the are "talkers" they meow a lot for some reason like they are trying to talk, our previous did the same! We have had both seal point and chocolate, one of ours now is 17 years old, they tend to be prone to urinary tract infections both the males and the females so make sure and use a good cat food, the cheap ones have lesser grade ingredients and unless you are going to use for breeding definitely spay or neuter
