You need to go back to the basics on this one, for Both children.
0-3 Whole grain soft cereals, Cut up fruits and veggies. LEAN meats, Eggs, Organic Milks, NO SOY milk as soy can lead to hormonal imbalances in younger children. (if your child is Lactose intolerent use rice milk or Almond milk. I like almond) Organic and Natural foods are more expensive, but try to avoid all the excess hormone, additive foods, and all the PRocessed dinners. Cook from scratch whenever possible(that saves money) and always be aware of what you are putting into it. IF you go on to ORganic websites there are TONS of helpful hints to nutrition. BEst of luck, I know it's hard especially w/ all the advertisments trying to get your kids to beg for sugary candies, cereals and fruit snacks.

Just stick to the BASIC food pyramid as best you can.

Normal healthy balanced diet full of vitamins minerals etc. Whole grains found in cereals, fruits and vegetable's, whole milk, whole wheat pasta, white meat, fish high in omega 3. Steer clear of junk food allow sweets etc as a treat. Use raw veg as a snack, sugar free drinks or water. I avoid packaged food due to hidden hydrogenated fats and E numbers, I make all meals from fresh, make in bulk and freeze for ease.

Call your local WIC office. 211 if the info line for the closest one to you. Or at least it is in wv. I just try to feed mine a balanced meal. my toddler (15 mos) just had peanutbutter sandwich (1/2) a 1/2 cup of peach bites and a cup of milk. I got everything but the veggie, but to get that I feed her carrots and celery for snack, also she thinks it's fun to eat peas. Then my 7 y.o. Will eat the same for me, but about 1/4 the size. So about a 1/3 of a chicken breast. 3 tbsp of corn, and 3 tbsp of mashed potatoes. both of them either get milk or juice to drink, they get pop/soda for special days. I'm not a nutrisionist, but I just try to give them something from every food group. Good luck
