NO! Whiskers should never be trimmed!
Cats use their whiskers for balance, to feel their way around in the dark, and to feel if any given opening is wide enough for them to squeeze through. Trimming the whiskers can make the cat be disoriented and get stuck in narrow places and such.
He should definitely not be let outside until they grow back. (Of course, I personally think cats should be kept indoors anyway, but in this case, it's definitely necessary no matter what you normally do.) He might get stuck somewhere and not come home.
Don't worry though - the whiskers WILL grow back, just like any other hair when it's cut off. Whiskers also fall out periodically and are replaced by new ones (just normally only one at a time, so the cat still has the other whiskers to use). They have a life cycle just like any other hair, and clipping won't change that.
I would definitely complain to whoever is in charge of the groomer's. A professional groomers trimming whiskers is simply not acceptable!

No--I have never heard of a groomer doing that---I thought cats need the lengthy whiskers for balance and sensing width of places squeezing into etc. I have noticed my 7 year old cat's whiskers are lengthening and even curling up---top ones near eyes and I read they grow longer with age....
I would call your vet and ask if this is harmful in any way to your pet. I would not like them to do that again unless there is a definite problem with whiskers that I can not imagine would be....

cats do no longer use their whiskers for stability. everywhere did anybody get that concept???? cats use their whiskers to choose the dimensions of openings in the previous venturing into them. if a cat would be unable to genuinely get it fairly is head and whiskers by an beginning then it fairly is physique will become caught. cats lose whiskers constantly and don't basically flop over or fall off of cabinets. the groomers shouldn't have decrease your cats whiskers or perhaps trimmed them till the ends have been badly broken. confident, i could record the groomer.

I'm not exactly sure on this. But I think I heard once or twice that the whiskers should NOT be trimmed because they are part of a cats senses.

omg the whiskers are so the cat can feel if it can fit in small spaces their whiskers are the same length as the body is wide so if the whiskers are still the same size as the body width your cat is fine but if not i would make sure your cat doesn't try to go into small places good luck

NO!!!! Whiskers must not be trimmed, ever, because cats use them for balance. Until they grow back, keep him inside! They may not grow actually, because eventually each whisker falls out and another one grows in it place.

We have had many cats. The cat whiskers that had been cut for whatever reason, never grew back.
