This happens more often than you would realize. I have heard countless times from my friends husbands, the cat is being fed better than they are and then they don't eat it. I have put out fresh bowls of water many times for the cats and instead of drinking the fresh water, the go to the nearest puddle. All you can do is shake your head.

Give em an inch........................
When I first got my kitten, he refused to eat biscuits. However, every cat I have ever owned has eaten biscuits and I have never lost a battle yet! It's crazy what they try and get away with, but no cat is stupid enough to starve themselves (at least not in my experience!)
Cats are ridiculously fussy. One of my cats prefers to drink my partners water from his glass than from his nice bowl of fresh water and will make every effort to sneak up on the bedside table (much to my annoyance!)
I've always made a rule never to feed cats with fresh fish, chicken etc. Once they have a taste for something, they get really fussy and expect it all the time. A good balanced pet food designed for cats is probably better anyway...at least you know they're getting all their nutrients.
But yes...............cats are very funny creatures! Where they get their ideas nobody knows!

oh yes! My dog Murphy is spoiled rotten. Yet when I give him a fresh bowl of water when he is outside, he goes and drinks out of a puddle! Also he won't eat his food unless you hold the bowl up in front of him. otherwise he won't touch it! Then we had to go out and buy him an elevated food bowl so we didn't have to hold it for him. But as spoiled as he may be, i love him to death. The only reason why I listen to what he wants is b/c i love him!

Yep. I have 2 Siberian Huskies. One is a garbage mouth - will eat anything. The other one is a very picky eater, and we are constantly coming up with new tricks just to get her to eat. I told my husband the other day that I've never had a dog that I had to work so hard just to get her to eat. I've also made the comment to him that our damn dogs eat better than we do. Then the one that's the garbage mouth will go and drink out of the toilet if we forget to put the lid down. Go figure!

I give my cats a little turkey or chicken if I cook it for myself. My boy cat doesn't like fresh turkey and will head straight to his dry biscuits instead. His sister will scream at me and run straight at me for turkey. She loves fresh water out of the filter, whereas her other brother would use his paw to clear the top of the fishpond of weed for his drinks!

I hope your cat is just snob (my cat sometimes scratches the floor near his food bowl, like he's trying to bury the bowl, in order to show me the food I gave him disgusts him and stinks!). Just make sure she is OK healthwise, because sometimes when they don't have appetite and they drink water it indicates some health problem, like diabetes or renal failure, so do give her a precaution blood test from time to time just in case.

Yes - both my cats drink out of stagnant tubs of water in the garden when there's fresh water in the kitchen for them. Try your cat with tinned Tuna in Brine - cats love it.

I once had a cat that stopped eating and only drank water, it turned out she had sore teeth. Have you taken him to the vet recently??
