I have 3 persians that, at times, have the same problem. I have started taking them in periodically fro grooming. When they trim their hair they trim the are around their butts very short. This helps A LOT

When he's had a bath, take him and hold him down with help (preferably) and snip all that long hair around his "Poop-Shoot" and you wont have that problem anymore.. Good-Luck, to you, hun!!! I miss my cat!! His name was "Sterling-silver", and he was grey striped, and when we were moving he ran out the door, after our last trip, loading the U-haul... We waited as long as we could for him, to come back, but he was an "Alley Cat" and usually never came home, untill he was done running, all night, so we knew he wasn't coming home, until the next morning, once he ran out the door! I just loved that cat!! He never pooped in the house, always outside, and only came home to be loved, and fed!! Couldn't have asked for a better cat!! He was very low maintenance!!! So, enjoy your cat while you can!! Smile!!!

Take him to a groomer or your vet and get the hair around his back end trimmed or shaved a little bit. You won't noticed anything except that he doesn't have poop hanging from him anymore.

Take him to a groomer and have them thin out the long hair around that area or do it yourself. You can get thinning sheers at most pet supply shops. Or you can trim it. That will look more obvious. Also, is the cat having the runs? If so, please take him to the vet - he may have an underlying problem.

Generally speaking, the poop is not supposed to stick in the fur. The fur should naturally repel it. If the poop is sticky, that coul dbe an indication that you need to change the cat's diet so that it's stool is more solid.

You can have your vet trim the hair around his butt, or you can ask a local groomer to trim the hair around his butt.
