Hi! Just get a claw clipper from any pet shop & give her a trim every couple of weeks. Just take off the tip & you'll find all will be well. We have had to do this with my cat since he lost one of his legs & is less active. Only takes a minute & they're very grateful!

Get her nails clipped and then clip as needed. Some cats have to have their claws clipped very often , especially if they are always inside. Remember ,in the wild cat claws get ground down daily on rocks ,trees, etc..Inside cats have carpet, smooth tile or hardwood floors. I like the ,flat cardboard box end type of scratchers, available in most pet departments.Cats seam to love them, with or without the catnip that comes with the unit. I do Duct tape all the outer edges,to make them last longer. These help to keep the claws in better shape, but do make some mess. And sometimes claws do shed an outer shell . If you see your cat chewing or pulling at the claws, she could be having trouble shedding. If it continues ,over several days on the same claw, see your vet. And, I have had two different cats that kept their claws ,partially open all the time.
There is also an item called, Soft Paws, available. But they can be hard to use on some cats, as they are glued on.

Yes you can get her claws clipped and you can actually learn to do this yourself. Just get some cat claw clippers and hold the cats paw firmly and clip off the end. Be sure not to get into the pink part of the claw cause that contains a blood vessel and kitty can bleed.
If you feel uncomfortable about doing it yourself the first time you can let a vet show you how and I don't think they charge much for this service. You could call and check around.
I had to clip my cat Bobby's claws cause he was a polydactyl cat and had extra claws that would not retract. They were getting stuck in everything and I had to keep those clipped for him on a regular basis. Good luck.

Yes, get her claws clipped by a vet or vet nurse and ask him to show you how it's done, so that you won't have to go back every time.
There are nail clippers on the market that make it easier to know how much to cut without hurting kitty.
You could try softpaws, rubber caps for cat claws, but then the ct won't be able to hold on if she's slipping and might fall, PLUS, I've heard they need to be changed quite often.
Clipping should do in your case.
WELL DONE FOR GIVING DECLAWING THE BOOT!!! iT'S AN EVIL THING...

When it comes to a cat's claws there are only three things you can do.
One: Declaw. You've ruled that one out.
Two: Clip them with fingernail clippers or a "claw clipper." If the cat is a handful it may take two of you and a bath towel to keep from getting scratched to heck.
Three: Ignore the problem and let the cat deal with it. She or he will learn to control them ............ some day.

Get a good set of nail clippers and cut the very sharp bit off the end of the nail, but don't cut too much off as the claw has a blood vessel and a nerve inside it
If this unerves you use a nail file
Declawing is not simply removing the nail it means removing the end bone in each toe and is painfull

Clipping nails is easy to learn! You can get some nail clippers at the pet shop that are made especially for cats and dogs. If her nails are growing too long, then putting SoftPaws over them alone won't help, if her nails are growing too long they may still bother her even covered up. If you feel insecure about clipping her nails yourself ask a groomer or your vet to teach you.

i have two siamese cats twin brothers.their claws get very long as we dont allow them outside.
just buy a pair of claw clippers from the pet shop or try "Wilkinsons" thats where i got mine from.
i clip them about once a month and that keeps them nice and tidy.

yeah, clip her claws (i do my cat's with small people clippers, i find that easier than the animal ones)
'softpaws' may help, they are vinyl caps that you put over her claws. they have to pe replaced peridically, but some say it's easier than clipping (and no chance of clipping too short & hurting the poor thing!). they can be fun, they come in diff colors & they show like they got their nails done! lol
i'm so glad you won't consider declawing her!! i've had a cat who was declawed (i got him when he was an old man) and he was nearly crippled from the resultling arthritis! so sad :( and he was all beat up & scarred cuz after his owner died he was put out on the street & couldn't defend himself!
