What is your definition of "take the Bible literally"?

To "take the bible literally" is a statement made by many in a condescending manner that attests to their belief that the bible is entirely metaphorical. While there are some things in there that are, there are also things in there that are not. Most people who make this statement don't like what is said in the bible and try to make a loophole to make themselves feel better about themselves or to create an allusion that the bible is a "book of fairy tales".

There are parts of the Bible you take literally.
There are parts of the Bible you don't they were metaphors.

Take for instance, if your eye hurts you pluck it out.
Do you really think that He meant this literally????
There are many statements made that aren't made to take literally.
