why there's no volume icon in my tool bar?

Help me please!!!
First, volume is in my startup list. Everytime i start windows, there is sound, but just no icon in the bottom. If i set it, it appears. But when i restart windows, it disappears again, and i have to set it up again. Please tell me why. PLEASE!! Thank you very very very very very much!

1. Click Start > Control Panel.
2. Click "Sounds And Audio Devices" icon.
3. On the "Volume" tab make sure that the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked.

its a registry setting and something keeps changing it back
