GED stands for General Educational Development. It is considered to be sort of a high school qualification.
HOwever, this course is intended to offer an opportunity to adults who do not have a high school degree and need to prove themselves that along with the passage of time, and away from schools, they did acquire the knowledge and skills required to earn a high school certificate.

Furthermore, as per the lastest statistics some 15.4 million adults passed GED tests since 1949.
