This guy who had a potbelly wore Saran wrap around it (his shirt was a little short so I could see it). And it had me thinking -- I've heard of people doing it before while working out.

It seems tacky to me. What's the reason for this?

Some think they'll lose more weight, while exercising ... because they sweat more w/the Saran wrap wrapped around them. Maybe they do, but, it's all just 'water weight' and as soon as they refresh their system with water ... the weight returns. If they do lose a substantial amount of weight, it's simply due to the exercise ... not the Saran wrap.

HE BELIEVES or HOPES that this will result in spot-reduction. That he'll lose inches of his belly because he's making that area of is skin sweat more.
I have some prime swamp land to sell him.
There is a tiny grain of usefulness in this - the warming-up process prior to working out is essential to reduce the chances of muscle-pulls. However, all his saran wrap is good for around his gut is warming up his abs prior to doing sit-ups and crunches and working his obliques. And those exercises, along with pushing himself away from the talbe, are what will actually help his tummy shrink.

That reminds me of the time Martin Lawrence was arrested for pointing a gun at someone cause he was wearing a rubber suit, It was supposed to make him sweat as a way to lose weight, but he became dehydrated and his mind was noty functioning properly

It's probably the "poor man's" version of a heat suit. Peopel wear suits that look like foil and it keeps their body hot and the idea is to burn fat by keeping the area hot...or maybe he just likes how it feels.

have you heard of, the more you sweat, the more you loose, same thing applies in this case. This guy is trying to loose his belly. It does work on some people, but not all.
