I mean, what are the odds, that in the millions of years that this planet has been revolving and that mankind has been developing, God has only chosen the last 2000 years to send a messenger. He kinda took his time didnt he?

Also people take the Bible as Gospel (both literally and figuratively), but we all know that history books are full of propaganda that is slanted the way the author wants us to interpret events. How do we know that whoever wrote the Bible, didnt just embellish a few of the 'facts' to suit the story.

Also my final point is that Jesus was around 2000 years ago, surrounded by an awful lot of uneducated people (not having a pop, its just fact), so fooling people in those days would be much easier than trying it on now.

Short answer? What proof do you have that he was?

Longer Answer: About the writers embellishing. That's a good question actually. The fact is that much of the secular history of biblical times was written by what you might call government employees. In typical political fashion, the put a spin on things and only wrote the ruler's accomplishments. Never their failures. The truth came out later. On the other hand Bible writers were unflinchingly honest. Some examples you ask?

Moses - Wrote about how he took credit for providing the Israelites with water (when he struck a rock) instead of giving the glory to God. That cost him entry into the promised lang.

Jonah - A large part of his book is about how he was given an assignment by God to go deliver a message of adverse judgment against the Ninivites. They were a notoriously violent and wicked people, the Assyrians. Jonah took off and ran in the other direction. THAT was why he wound up in the belly of the big fish. In the same book he talks about how he was chastised for being angry that God had shown the Ninivites mercy because they responded favorably to God's message.

David: Told about his adulterous affair and about how he sent Beersheba's husband to the front lines of battle so she he would be killed and her pregnancy by David would be covered up.

The gospel writers recorded some of the pettiness that took place among Jesus apostles and how they abandoned him in his darkest hour.

and if you want to go for the New Testament, the Apostle Paul repeatedly wrote about his struggles with his human weaknesses and counselled the congregations he'd formed about their own.

No spin there.

About Jesus being surrounded by "uneducated people", making it easier to fool him? A number Pharisees, the elite and most educated of the time, became followers of Jesus.

Jesus is part of something bigger than himself, that is misterious & beyond comprehension just like the creation and size of the Universe in both religious and scientific terms, the sole idea of trying to comprehend and picture the size of the Universe. Where does the Universe exactly ends? Not a single person in this whole planet can answer that question and then, he lets you know he's out there, he comes to you and knocks in your heart and only until you accept him he emerges from within and at that moment you know for sure that Jesus wasn't a con artist. But don't worry he Loves you too and he will keep knocking on your heart until you decide to hear the answer from himself.

The bible helps people like you get a better picture of the kind of gifts he made to humanity, read it, take the substance of its content and the message of it, not the way it was written be smart to see that different people say the exact same basic story just with their "embellishing" points of view, think of them as reporters of different newspapers you buy tomorrow the The LA Times, The New York Times & The Washington Post and see that they all report the same international news, just with their respective "embellishing words".

Sorry but the people on that time wasn't uneducated, a great flourish on science, art, philosophy, etc, was given on that times, by the jewish, the Greek, etc.

Maybe you should educate more about history. Maybe you are right, many facts were altered, an off course he is no the only one, as he, there has been a lot of messengers of God, as well as lairs, and truly. And Jesus is no God.

There is no proof or evidence that Jesus even existed outside the bible... indeed pretty much all historical evidence shows that none of the New Testament is accurate and that was one of the most well recorded centuries of history. The bible contradicts reality, history and even itself.

The only thing that might be evidence of a historical Jesus is those tombs in the upcoming Discovery channel documentary, but we'll see how that goes.

But if he had existed I'm guessing he would have been a good con-artist, but nowhere near as good a con-artist as the early church.

You honestly think the world was created 1000 years AFTER the Babylonians invented beer and the Sumerians invented glue?

Are you talking only about bible and christianity or is it general to all religions? If jesus was a con artist then other people like mohammed, budha, etc etc are also con artists.

You think it is hard to fool people now? Think again when benny hinn came to bangalore, there were 15 lakh people who attended his meeting. When ravi shanker came, 25 lakhs attended. You can fool people anytime in the name of religion

Miracles were performed to act as evidence that something far greater was at work.

And God has been sending messengers ever since He created everything 6000 years ago... read all the prophets in the Old Testament for starters.

For a non-believer like yourself, proof positive is not possible. Only believer's know what it is like to suddenly change (inside) when Christ comes into your life and the Holy Spirit enters your body. If someone had tried to tell me that five years ago I would have laughed and thought they were crazy or perhaps even deluded like you seem to think we all are who believe. I wish more than anything that I could simply let you borrow what I have for even a few minutes. I assure you, you would be changed and so would your outlook. In the meantime, I hope that the right person comes into your life to help guide you to Christ. God Bless.

You think if he gave "solid" proof way back then he would have a due time within the last 2000 years to do it again.

You have been indoctrinated with evolutionary thinking based upon assumptions and no hard repeatable evidence. You need to rethink your history using the only true source of information, God's Word.

All con artists end up taking from people. Jesus never took, He gave. He gave sight, hearing, wisdom and His Life. There are witnesses, prophesies, history and miracles to confirm this.

May God Bless you.
