What are you feeding? Dry coat is often a sign of poor nutrition. Make sure your dog food includes Omega 6 and Omega 3. Those are two fatty complexes that help with coat quality. Other than that you might need to take the dog to the vet to see if their is an underlying health problem like hypothroidism or (if the dog is blue) Color dilution alopecia as a couple examples of health issues that can cause a dry coat.

add some vegetable oil, about a 1/2 capful to his food or mix in a raw egg in w/ some soft food. do this 3 times per week, not ever day or you will have an animal w/ the serious case of the runs.

do this a few times a week and the coat should come back. worked like a charm on a few of my cats, was vets advice.
