It's not about the hair color. Hair color compliments your skin tone but does nothing for the hairstyle really... it's about the shape of your face. I would pick up some hairstyle magazines and pick a couple I really like on people with the same or similar face shapes and take the photos to the hair dresser so she can see exactly what you are looking for. Don't go with out the photos!!!!

Not enough info. What shape is your face? Is your nose an awning for your feet in the rain? Are your ears fly?
Go to a salon that specializes in trendy cuts and styles...bring lots of cash or plastic. You and your stylist should collaborate and find something new that you can manage yourself except for your hair cuts.
It's worth it.
