Rich resources of all kinds (including oil (178.9 billion bbl reserves - compared to 112 in Iraq for instance), iron ore, nickel, zinc, copper, gold, lead, molybdenum, potash, diamonds, silver, fish, timber, wildlife, coal, petroleum, natural gas, hydropower, wheat, barley, oilseed, tobacco, fruits, vegetables; dairy products; forest products, etc), and not a heavy population that would make it harder to extract them.
2nd largest country in the world behind Russia, and only 33 million or so people
Canada also has the infrastructure to develop and ship the resources as well being a "first world" nation.

For its population I would say Australia. More than sufficient reserves for export of many minerals and coal and natural gas. Self sufficient in oil. Problem area is water.
