Good excercise for your girl would be just going for walks or playing tug 'o war, just things that will be fun for her. Dont worry about bulking her up. She is a pit so she WILL bulk up in time.
If you really want to bulk her up, now is NOT the time. She is only 4 months old and she is still growing. Wait till she is at least 18 months old. By then her all her growth plates should be closed and you can start doing things like weight pulling.
A good diet for her would be just a GOOD quality puppy chow. That means no Iams, or Pedigree or any of that garbage. A good food should have chicken or lamb as the first ingredient and should contain NO corn, wheat or soy.

Hello and congrats on your new dog, they make very good companions if properly handled. The best exercise for a dog is for you to walk him at a fact pace just next to a slow jog. But you must do it consistent so the dogs heart rate and resperations stay about the same. Running doesnt do alot on its own, of course it helps. But if you will pace her for a little more each day until you get her to where her resperations remain steady and she does not appear tired, it will surely pay off. BTW we can squeeze a little exercise in ourselves while were at it. LOL

Well hello there! I myself just recently rescued a pit bull! But anyways back to the exercise, ahah. Hanging them on a rope or playing tug-o-war, etc. is NOT a good idea. As you know pit bulls have a reputation for being "aggressive" and these games only advocate those traits. I would suggest running with them, such as fetch and such. I have a treadmill and have taught my pit bull to walk/run on it. But if you don't have a treadmill, I would highly recommend fetch or running exercises and the most "safe" and effective exercises!
Good luck to you and your little darling!

Running or long walks would be excellent. What do you mean when you say "Hanging them on a rope"? Do you mean chaining or tying the dog to something ? Personally, I don't think any dog should be chained or tied up, I think it's cruel. Dogs with naturally aggressive behavior (like Pitt bulls and Rotties) need to be socialized and need plenty of love, the worst thing you could do is tie them up.

Running is the best exercise for them. And, hanging the dog on a rope is abusive.

our largest pit was 105lbs. he had a huge chest and the way he got that was by my husband walking him ALOT. he had a leather collar but his leash was like a chain. very heavy we bought it at a flea market from someone who sold only doggie things. my hubby like to show him off because noone believed how large his chest and head was. you dont need to give him any drugs or do any crazy exercise we never did. im referring to steriods. we know a guy who gives those to his dog and i dont think it does too much. we fed our dog just the regular dog chow twice a day. and one can of pedigree food every other day. he has had three litters with our female who is only 45 lbs. it all depends on there blood how large they will get. he is an american pit bull terrier. blue bue blood line. my hubby even has this paper of his supposed ancestor its crazy supposedly his great grandaddy used to hunt boar!!! dont torture your poor dog just play and give him lots of love and hell be fine. good luck
