How long does it take to hear back either way?

Its not really any of those....People's applications are reviewed and most of them are completely overlooked, like the answer above, they are looking to put people on the show that have a legit story, a story that will bring viewers in.
You can still get tattooed by any of those artist, and of course it will be a waiting period of anywhere to 3-12 months.
Kat and her Husband Oliver are starring in a new show in Los Angeles, called LA INK. they are taking appilcants for people to get tattooed on the show which is set to air around July/August of this year.
Unlike Miami Ink, LA INK are looking for more fun stoires,and tattoos rather then sob stories....

I want to be tattooed by kat.. not because I want to be on tv, but because I really want a marilyn monroe tattoo, and who better to do a black and white portrait tattoo, then someone who specializes in black and white portraits? I'd imagine it takes a while to get on, because I bet alot of people want to get tattooed by them.

I heard that you have to have some big drama behind the tattoo that you want to get in order to be on the show.....

nope, sorry i have no desire to be on t.v. and i have no desire to be tattooed by any of them... i have a list of other artists i would chose before them. but good luck!
