My cats are 2 and 5, both spayed females. They fight all the time, chase each other around the house, and hiss. They never get hurt, but just the same, I still don't want them to fight. What can I do?

Put them in separtate rooms. I have the same problem with my two cats, they are 3 and 7, and spayed. You can't make them stop but it does ease the noise.

Sure its not just play? My 2 chase each other around, barrel roll with each other, flip each other off the bed, etc.

Normally the hissing comes in when one gets hurt and wants to quit....the hiss is like saying "time out".

Or could be them sorting out the order of things. Animals live in an order, as in there is a master and those that are below them. The cats might be fighting for the right to be the alpha or the one who isn't the alpha is challenging the other for the position.

All part of nature, just let nature be.

Im not sure if this would work the same with cats as it does with dogs but its always worth a shot. Choose one of the cats to be the dominant cat over the other one. This is preferrably the one who is older or been living with you the longest. Then whenever you give them food, pet them, give them treats...etc., always pet the dominant cat first and show them who is the top cat. then proceed to the other cat. Animals work in order of dominance, so if you keep this process up with everything, then soon enough they'll both realize (hopefully) who the dominant cat is. Then they should stop fighting.

For the secure practices of you and your cat, your cat could desire to stay (and be fed) indoors. you do no longer opt for to bodily pass in and attempt and injury up a cat combat. (do no longer use your arms/ft.) Too hassle-free so you may be bit or scratched in the technique. besides the cut back flesh (and achieveable an infection on the positioning), you are going to be able to additionally be uncovered to rabies or bartonella or different cat-carried illnesses. the closest that i could propose getting could be to shove a great cardboard field between them... (Your cat could additionally get FIV or FeLV (cat AIDS or Leukemia) from yet another cat with the aid of this sort of combat, too...) a twig bottle of water directed on the cats could artwork (that's what we use on the seem once I volunteer at), as could turning a easy spray or flow from a backyard hose. the different cat is coming around because of the fact it has nutrition available exterior. in case you provide up putting the nutrition exterior (by utilising feeding your cat interior), the different cat will ultimately provide up coming by utilising while it now no longer reveals any nutrition.

I once read that someone asked the vet this, and he told the owner to cover both cats in tuna juice, and stick them in a bathroom together. When the owner checked on them they were all cuddled up, licking each other....haha - don't know if it's true or not, but I think it's a funny story!

One of them may be stressed out especially if it was the first cat, sounds like the other one is still playful and might just want to play, they have stuff they sell at the pet stores for stress, and anxiety, sometimes it works pretty good, I have to use it for one of mine who has a lot of anxiety.

if they do not stop fighting you can either start spraying them with water lightly - they hate water - or you can take them both to the vets at the same time and then they will smell the same so there is no need to fight.
