I was just curious if the Government allowed those providing services in support of the military in Iraq to carry personal weapons while performing their duties.

No, not KBR truck drivers at least, its too much of an insurance risk and its too expensive to train them in combat arms. They instead just have the NG or army give a front and rear gunner on all convoys. I agree they should be able to carry a gun but hey thats business.

Some of them carry bigger things. I've seen civilian contractors packing M-4's.

Others (like the engineers and such) choose to carry nothing because they think they'll be perceived as a threat which makes US troops have to guard them.

Contracts are not precisely a racket. yet confident, there are a number of american contractors and militia nevertheless in Iraq, in an advisory functionality. We basically have not got any try against troops there anymore.

don't be such a hypocrite, those who declare war against another country should carry whatever guns with them for whatever reason when entering the country..

i don't know, but there are some civilian contractors contracted for security forces, so they obviously are allowed.
