no its not wrong or stupid. Its what you want that is respectful. Many other people do this. They even choose to have their dog stuffed like a taxedermist does along with keeping the ashes nearby on display in your home. I am so sorry for your loss, and I grieve with you. I had a dalmation for 10 years and she passed awa just 3 months after her 10th b-day. I was able to be with her in her last moments. I was sure it was a number of things she had including maybe heartworms, and liver and kidney problems which is herditary in the breed. You'll get better as time goes on, and when you finally fel like you have moved on, then maybe you can get a new dog. And start all over again. :)
If it helps, there is a link to "The Rainbow Bridge" poem below...

It is not wrong or stupid to keep the ashes. You can purchase a beautiful pet urn to keep them in if you choose. Another special thing that you could do is plant a tree and put the ashes there to help the tree grow or put them in a favorite spot in the yard that the dog liked.

No it's not stupid. Pets are just like family members and only you know what it takes to help you as you grieve. I have the ashes of my dog along with his picture and it has been over 8 years since my loss. I want to remember Shorty and all the good times. Unconditional love given by him always made my day!

It is neither wrong, nor stupid.
There are several companies that can help you find somewhere to keep the ashes, too.
www.lifegem.com can make a gem out of the ashes and you can wear it as a peice of jewelry.
www.angelashes.com and www.foreverpets.com offer urns in many different styles. Forever pets offers them down to the different breed.
I'm sorry about the loss of your beloved pet, and I hope that keeping the ashes helps you feel close to your furry friend!

No, it's not wrong or stupid to want to keep her ashes. I have the ashes of my German Shepherd dog in an urn. I plan to have the ashes spread when I die.
If her ashes are in a box, you can get an urn to preserve them in. There are different kinds of urns for varying prices but they are quite affordable.
Sorry about the loss of your dog.

Not at all, sweetheart. You loved your dog and you want to keep her with you always, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Also, if you're open to tattooing, they can actually put some of the ashes in the ink! That way, you will literally always have her with you. My fiance plans to do this soon, just as I will do it when my dog passes.

Of course not. Many people want to hang on to part of their family including pets. Some people keep ashes, some collars, some people even taxidermy their pets to keep the memories fresh. Don't feel bad about loving an animal and wanting to keep part of it with you..
