Beef, vegetable and chicken stock is usually together on the shelf. If you are cooking meat for the chile adding a little water to the broth will make the stock (broth and stock mean the same)
They also sell bouillon cubes near where the soup is too. You can dissolve beef ones to make a stock/broth too.
Chile recipe.
Cook diced meat (beef chicken pork sausage) until very tender, add a can of dark red kidney beans, salsa as hot as you would like, diced onions, little chile powder...done. Top with cheese or chopped onions if you did not add them and/or small drop of sour cream.
Good luck

Beef stock is also bouillon. You can find it in liquid or powdered form in the soup isle.

Personally I always use Knorr bouillon. This comes in either a jar of powder, or a box with cubes in it. A teaspoon of powder or a cube added to a cup of water and then heated makes beef stock. The jar or box is yellow.

You could also look for Wylers, but I don't like them as well.

You might also look on the aisle with hispanic foods. For some reason the stores in Austin keep the Knorr bouillon on that isle. In which case it will be called Caldo de Res.

Try the beef cubes made by Knorr or Bourvil. The recommendation of chicken stock is OK. Actually, when I cook chili, I use minced beef meat that comes from parts with natural grease. This gives the flavour. And simple water and salt do the rest.

It should be next to the chicken stock. If you can't find it, you could substitute chicken stock or beef broth (which would be found with can soups) or you could make beef broth using beef bullion cubes (these would be either near chicken stock or perhaps near spices). If you do beef bullion, you just add them to water (the package will tell you the amount) and voila! beef broth.

well lets make this easy if you are not finding the beef stock why not ask a store clerk?!
also beef broth is virtually the same thing bullion cubes are very salty and not that great tasting stick to the canned or boxed broth/stock.

Usually you can use broth in place of stock...
Plus you can use bullion cubes too.

For example, Swanson's Beef Broth.

For most recipes, you can use any broth interchangeably - Beef, Chicken and Vegetable.

Also, if you look around the soup aisle, I believe there's a product now that's labeled as "stock". It comes in a larger paper box containter. I haven't tried it. I usually use broth.

Bullion cubes and beef base are almost 100% salt and add VERY little flavor.
If you can't find beef stock, use chicken stock. You would hardly be able to tell the distance!
Good luck!

College Inn and Swansons both make beef broth...you can use that instead of stock. The beef broth will be found in the soup aisle....Campbells also makes a broth but I don't think it is as good as the others....

Go, girl.....cooking is FUN!!

Most major grocery stores here have veggie , chicken and beef stock in the same location by soups BUT
I recommend Trader Joes, they have the Best !
Or make your own from roasting the beef . . . (even better)
