There's a passage in revelation that states something along the lines that if part of the bible is true, then it is all true. Your friend has to decide whether the bible is all truth or all false.

The Bible is a collection of writings regarding God's relationship with man. The primary difference between one book and another is the perspective used by the author of that particular book. Some of the Bible is history, other is for direction (teaching), other parts are prophetic and yet again, other things are promises God/Jesus made to believers. Every book of the Bible has been written by someone who had a direct connection with either God or Christ so we have to assume that the entire Bible is correct IN CONCEPT. What I mean by that is the ideas put forth must be accepted as true. However, as man himself wrote the words, I personally feel that we have to leave some latitude for the authors interpretation of God's inspiration. Your friend may simply need to read and understand more by studying other texts. I would suggest a life application kind of Bible. Here, theologians and Biblical history specialists have attempted to explain what the likely meaning of a specific passage is and why that passage has that particular meaning. Where "church" doctrine is involved, this kind of Bible usually provides all major viewpoints.

She is what the Bible calls lukewarm. God doesn't like people being lukewarm. She really needs to choose a side. Either believe all of the Bible, or believe none of it.

Revelation 3:14-16 says:

"To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth."

Tell her that it's okay, because YOU only believe parts of the Bible, too! The parts you like, that is. The rest you just ignore. For instance, when Jesus said that one must obey the entire law and anyone who doesn't, and teaches others not to, will be least in God's kingdom...I bet you ignore that because you don't like the idea of keeping all those stuffy old Jewish laws that he was talking about. And when Jesus said that, in order to be perfect, you must sell all you have and give the money to the poor and THEN follow him...yeah, I know for a fact you don't do that, or you wouldn't have a computer! Oh, and in 1 John 3:9 it says that whoever is born of God DOES NOT and CANNOT sin. Well, if you believed that, it would mean that you're not really born of God, because you sin all the time. Better to just ignore it and pretend you really are born of God and going to heaven. See? You and your friend have a lot in common!

Pray with her and ask for understanding for both of you as you read, discuss and talk about his word. When you talk to her let her know that you have not found a text saying that you can choose what parts of the Bible you believe.Ask her if she could please show you. Just try to not sound harsh. Maybe ask her if she believes God makes mistakes, let her know that man tries to make the Bible fit into their lives and man should be making their lives follow the Bible. It is easy for satan to mislead us when the things we want or want to do, don't fit the teachings of the Bible.

Everyone only believes in "parts" of the Bible, or in your case, the Biblke.

I suspect that one could not find many people who follow all the dictates laid down in Leviticus, for example.

You can not believe only part of the Bible.

It says that it is the word of God.

If you any of it you are rejecting God.

Jesus said "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY word that proceeds from the mouth of God!"

Tell her nothing, and realize that the bible was written by man, and inspired by God. Dont believe in anything but God himself.

Ask her what particular verse in the Bible she would not believe?

2Timothy 3:15 And that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2Timothy 3:16 Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness.
2Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.

One cannot 'cherry pick' through the Bible. It must be taken in totality, with the understanding of how and when it was written.
