Lowering your body fat percentage will slim the entire body. Contrary to popular belief/advertising for various exercise machines, you cannot "spot reduce" fat on your body.

In order to lower your body fat percentage, your caloric intake needs to be less than your caloric expenditure. Go online and find a BMR calculator to get an approximation of the minimum amount of calories your body needs. A rule of thumb is that you need to have your caloric expenditure exceed your intake by about 500 calories a day for each pound of fat you want to lose per week (1lb fat = 3500 calories), but you should not try to lose more than 2lbs per week.

As far as exercises go, any type of cardio (running, walking, eliptical, bike, etc.) will do...you just have to put in the time on a consistent basis. Also, you should look into incorporating strengh training as well. Women are not genetically disposed to getting big muscles so you can actually help your body look slim and tone quicker by incorporating a light strength training program into your routine.

To do that you need to burn fat, so the best thing to do is run. Lots of jogging everyday with a proper diet and you will get thin.
