I don't know how much it costs, but you can take your pet to a vet's office or a humane society. They will have the body incinerated.
Sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had to have my dog put down in October of last year. It was so hard and so sad. I still cry. He was old and had a good life and was very sick in his last yr - he was 17yrs old. I miss him. I had the vet cremate him and I have his ashes sitting right here on my book shelf. They were so kind and even put his ashes in a lovely cedar box with his name engraved on a brass plate on the box. It cost me a lot of money but I would not change that for the world - he gave me nothing but love and unconditional acceptance - how many people can do that!

Animal control in most areas will dispose of an animal's remains for a small fee. Be warned, though, if they take the dog and find signs of abuse or neglect, you could be charged or cited. If it was just an old dog that passed away naturally, then no problem. Just call animal control and ask them.

If he was your pet uou might want to consider cermation that way you do not need to worry about a burial spot you can him/her in a container and put somewhere special in your home I dfid that about 3 years ago it was very difficult at the time to think my poor Murphy was in that box but it actually gives me a lot of comfort now to know he is OK and with me only in a different form and when my time come he is to be buried with me. as he was my best friend and we were together 24/7 until the day he died, and in many ways he is still with me. its something to consider, good luck in your decision.

I'm so very sorry for your loss!!! In some cities they have pet cemetaries, the one in mine is beautiful and well tended. Or you can check with your vet. Most have cremation available and will give you your pet's ashes.
