Sarah ... I think that research determined that the artificial trans fats are more harmful than naturally occurring fats. The "food police" pressured large-scale food/snack producers to let the public know that use of trans fats may have been beneficial to the producers, but quite harmful to the consumers.

Trans fats and partially or fully hydrogenated fats are dangerous for your heart health and prevention of stroke. The public deserves to know.
