They say cleanliness is Godliness but the Bible said:
Cleanliness is Godliness.
1Peter 1:14 as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in the time of your ignorance:
1Peter 1:15 but like as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living;
2Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Cleanliness is important no matter how you look at other things. Spiritual cleanliness is simply keeping ones self as free from sin as you can. Physical cleanliness can be seen two ways. 1. If you are a person who believes that God created your body as well as your spirit, then it becomes doubly important to protect that creation. It not only means cleanliness to help avoid disease and sickness but also cleanliness inside i.e.eating healthy, excercise, no abusive drugs, alcohol etc. Not only because of moral reasons but because not living by that standard is abusive to the body. Also, for the person who believes that God created their body, you don't want to give the impression to others that you don't care about what God created. I'm not talking about putting on airs or trying to dress a certain way etc.. That is phony. I am simply talking about normal cleanliness. A frequent shower or wash to keep the dirt off and to remove dead skin cells.

For practical reasons, personal hygiene is very important. It keeps disease at bay. It's considerate of others close by. For spiritual reasons, the outside of a person is often a reflection of the inside. If you believe that your body is a temple wherein God resides, then it's important to make an effort to keep oneself clean inside and out. The lack of cleanliness and order in one's life is a sign of spiritual laziness.

External cleanliness, although it is but a physical thing, has great influence upon spirituality…The fact of having a pure and spotless body exercises an influence upon the spirit of man. A person who leads such a life would be contended, his mind always be peaceful, and his heart at rest.

I think it is important. Chaos and disorder can make me feel stressed and when I'm stressed I neglect myself. One of my favourite times of the day is when the the kids have just gone to bed, the house has been tidied, no toys in sight, no chocolatey handprints, no dirty dishes and I can sit back and relax. It's kinda hard to reflect on your day if you're sitting there thinking "that laundry needs doing and those dishes are still in the sink" I like to unwind in a nice bath with incense burning, it's almost like meditation for me. If you look good, you feel good and there's nothing more refreshing than coming out of the bath or shower all clean and walking into a neat and tidy room. It's almost like you're new again, refreshed and whole. It gives me a sense of peace and order then I can devote more time to spiritual development without feeling preoccupied.

They are both very important.
No one wants to deal with body odour, and greasy or gross hair and skin are unsightly and unhealthy.
Spiritually, it is important that someone connects on the deeper level so that they can gain insight into humanity. People who abandon the spiritual side of being a human, are only experiencing half of life, and will often make mistakes and bad or immoral decisions because of it.
I am a Christian, but I endorse almost all religions.

Cleanliness, as a physical concept is meant only to please the passions. It is therein worthless in the end. However in the present, if love and respect are you goals, then attain it.
Spiritual 'cleanliness' is entirely different. It does not mean 'sinlessness' for this is impossible. I take it to be 'regretlessness' you are clean because you have repented openly of all unGodly action.

Ride in a a New York cab, and if the driver has pictures of his Guru and religious paraphernalia all over his dash, you'll wish cleanliness was next to godliness.

I have no idea what you might mean by 'spiritual cleanliness' (do you?) but personal cleanliness is desirable.
