A large blister should be covered with a gauze dressing which allows the area to "breathe", or a stack of gauze pads cut in a doughnut shape to dissipate the pressure from the blister. Whenever possible, do NOT break a blister. However, if the pain is unbearable the blister can be broken and drained. Whan a blister must be broken because of pain:
1. Wash the area with soap and warm water. Dry the injured area abd swab it with 70% rubbing alcohol.
2. Make several small holes at the base of the blister with a sterilized needle.
3. Drain the fluid by applying gentle pressure to the blister's top, which should NOT be removed.
4. Apply antibiotic ointment

I get blisters all the time from running.
I don't know what it is about me... Thin skin? Sweaty feet?
When I'm not running I put polysporin (with fast healing &antibiotic) on it and a bandaid ontop. When I run I take the band aid off. (It just slides off when I sweat anyway.) I run through the pain. And the former blister turns to a callus.

My best tip for preventing blisters .... double socks. Wear two thin socks. The bottom layer absorbs the sweat, the top layer the friction. Some running stores sell double running socks.

Since it is on the bottom of your foot you may want to apply a bandaid to cushion it some. Do not pop it. If it opens on it's own keep it covered until it is healed. You do not need to use anything on it for creams or ointments. You may want to evaluate your running shoes or where you are running as you shouldn't be getting blisters from running.

Well, if you run constantly, apply Neosporin to the blister and put a large band-aid over it..... Then run on it for several hours to turn the blister into a callace!!! Callaces are sorta-like armored blisters!!!!!!!

Get some mole skin from a drug store to cover the area. This should provide some relief. In the future if you start gettig hot spots (red painful areas) apply the mole skin prior to getting a blister.

Make sure that you have appropriate fitting shoes.

I've gotten those from shoes that didn't fit right.

Wash the area well with soap and water. Then douse with alcohol. Then put a LARGE bandaid on it until it heals.

Good luck!

Put some antibiotic cream (like neosporin) on it and cover with a band-aid. Make sure you don't let your shoes rub it until it heals.
