I'm assuming you're exaggerating here. very young newborns sometimes sleep a whole lot, they're very tired from the whole labor ordeal. Newborns have a much higher sleep requirement and should nap several times a day. At three weeks though you should not be letting your baby sleep for more than six hours at the most without a feeding. you need to be waking him up to feed or he'll lose weight, sometimes babies don't have their internal clocks straightened out yet and won't wake up to feed. Now if you're baby has actually been asleep for 3 weeks STRAIGHT, with no feedings. well, i don't know how to tell you this, but your baby is uhm, dead. i don't think this is a real question anyway.

All newborns sleep about 22 out of 24 hours a day, then gradually
they will start to be awake more and more at feeding times and
changing times and bath times.

Enjoy it while you can. By 8 to 10 months they will be all over the place and beginning to get into everything.

Then by 2 you will wish they would sleep again.

Congratulations.

UHMMM??? If this is a serious question... then you really don't have much knowledge about children. First off, 'the kid'?? You mean your baby??
It is normal for a baby to sleep a lot in it's first couple of months...

what does cold have to do with it?

Newborns can be very sleepy sometimes, especially if s/he was born a little early. HOwever, being sleepy can interfere w/ feeding and/or be a sign of something serious. YOu should have your ped check your baby out RIGHT AWAY just to be sure.

you mean his eyes don't have white or you don't see them because he sleeps all the time?

Some kids sleep more then others. My daughter sleep way too much, for hours and hours int he day and all night. But I was on medication and breastfeeding...

What is cold?

No from day one the baby should be out partying and going places , H*ll when we took mine home from the hospital I let him drive , I told him I been here longer than he has so I am tired , and he said alright pops lets ride ...

I really wish they would start demanding an IQ test or something like it before one is allowed to breed with another to bring a child in to society.....

Yes it's okay for them to sleep alot. But he/she should wake up for feedings. Dont let him go 4 hours without food. If he is sleeping, wake him up and feed him, then let him go back to sleep. Believe me when they wake up they REALLY wake up.
