When do you study? If you study late in the day, you may be already quite tired. TIP: see what happens if you study early in the day. Or if it is later, try takiing a brief nap (set the alarm) before you begin your evening study.
Is the room stuffy and hot. TIP: Make sure you study in a well-ventilated place and that it is slightly colder than normal (but not so chilly as to make you uncomfortable).
Besides having good eyesight or proper eyeglasses or contacts (I read that you had your eyes tested), make sure the light is good. You might need an extra source of light, like a lamp, that falls over your shoulder on the opposite side of the hand that turns pages (i.e., if you're right handed, the light should fall over your left shoulder).
Do a bit of light exercise (stretching, and a few minutes walking around the room) before you start your study session and take a light exercise break (5 minutes or so every 45 minutes — or whenever you start to doze).
When you study, read actively rather than passively. First, survey a chapter to get the "lay of the land" — a quick skim will do it, note pictures and diagrams, headings, and whatever has been put in by the authors and book designers to help you (these features are intentional, rather than just random decorations). When you skim the chapter, read the opening few paragraphs (particularly if there is a llist of what you should expect to learn in this chapter) and the concluding paragraphs (particularly if there is a summary of the main points). Then go back, and reaad the chapter by sections. Stop after each sections' reading and think (or if you are alone, recite aloud what you remember as the main points you have just read; if you can, make up a question or two about your reading).
For help with studying, check out your school's study center — they're there to help you learn how to study. You can also check a website on study habits like the following: http://www.how-to-study.com/

I'd say you have a simple case of bored by studying :D
I have it too :D
It usually happens when I'm studying literature, history, grammar, etc. I have never fallen sleep solving math or physic problems and reading biology.
It took a while for me to figure out what times of the day are best for me to study. I now know that it is best for me to take a nap before I start studying. And study after everyone has gone to sleep because the quite helps me read and understand the material faster.
Try out different times of the day and you'll finally find what works for you.
Good luck.

I am guessing you are not getting enough sleep at night. Make sure you get at least 7 to 8 hours daily. Try studying at a time of the day when you are naturally alert. Take a nap before you study.

There are other sources for information. Why not look up your subject on line? Maybe it's the glue in the books you are sensitive too (stuffy nose makes me think allergy) or maybe it is just boring - try something else to get the information you need.
Peace!

The same thing with me. What you should do is put some soft music on. I put load music, but that is because I can handle it. However you may not be able to concentrate. If you can, go for it. Otherwise put some jazz or something of that sort on to keep you up. Something to have your head bopping.

That's funny, it happens to me too. Maybe you could read for about 20 minutes, then get up and go for a walk and then come back and read again. I'm always falling asleep when I read. haha
