No...you really can't get to know a person until you meet them face to face and get a real read on who they are. To trust what they say over IM and e-mail is foolish. I had an acquaintance that thought a guy from England was the answer to her dreams...until she met him in person and he turned out to be her worst nightmare!
Bottom line is people misrepresent themselves, as, best case scenario, in their best light, or just outright lie over the internet to hook a honey.

No. That is called infatuation. People usually don't really fall in love until around 6 months into their relationship. Before that, it's lust. The problem with "falling in love" on the internet is that you really have no idea who the other person is. Sure, they tell you who they are, but most of the time it's all lies. People will lie right to your face and you need to learn how to read them. The fact is that time is the only true way of falling in love. Thank you.

You can get the impression of being in love by having an internet romance but to truely be "in love" you need to know EVERYTHING about the person and that includes the bad habits and personal traits. It's easy to think you love somone that you enjoy getting emails from and chatting with - but if you were to spend a lot of time with them in person after you got to know them that way you might find you really don't have as much in common as you thought or that the chemistry is just not there.

it's possible--in theory! You might fall in love with the idea of falling in love with someone over the Internet, but not necessarily the person himself! Nothing beats meeting someone face-to-face: that's where you can read body language and all.
Be careful!

You can certainly develop loving feeling toward a person over the internet, but that isn't enough for love. Anything the person tells you can be carefully scripted so really you don't know if it is the person's personality of they are just a good writer.

Uh... I'd meet him first before you agree to marry him ;P
Seriously though. I've been where you're at. Meet the person first. If you guys connect as well as you do over the net, than go out and see what happens!
I know a married couple who met over the internet. They are so in love, and they travel all over the world. It CAN work out, just be careful.
BTW if he's like a lot older than you? STAY away! if he's not, meet him in a very public place. Not every person on the net is what they seem to be.

yes the probelm is it will be the most intensive feeling you will ever have and sometimes depending on where and how far they lkive it can break your heart, over the internet if you find a connection with someone its very intimate in the sense you learn everything about each other including your wants and desires and because of the distance between the two of you its hard to sustain because there is a need to be close to that person once you have reached that stage of emotional intimacy

well i think that when you are on the internet you see alot of good in the person and you don't relize there faults so i would be very careful and i think that its not possible at all because of the fact that you don't look at each other and you only communicate online you don't know if that person is lying to you either. Just be careful

Only if you are ridiculously lonley.
Even if you'd seen each others pics I still dont see how you could "fall in love" without ever having met.
Just my 2 cents
