Addicted isn't the correct word, but in a certain way it can feel that way. Basically, if you are depressed, it is very difficult to do anything and you are not motivated to work on the issue. It's the nature of the disease. You really should go to a doctor if you don't know what to do, you should at least just start with an appointment with your primary care doctor and they should be able to talk to you about who you should go to next.

Hi..you may well be addicted to depression, firstly, you recognise your problem, now you need to deal with it, strangely enough, I wonder if you are attracted to other people with depression and are able to counsel them with good, positive results? Ring a bell?
Okay, what you do is stop making eye contact with miserable people, do your best to mix with people who like a good laugh (but not at your expense), do some exciting fun things, begin to love yourself, be kind to yourself, treat yourself more often and you will break through, but be aware that there are plenty of people waiting to put a spanner in the works for you, identify them and steer clear okay?
Have a great new life of happiness, we only live once so do your best to enjoy it.

The very nature of depression is that one becomes self obsessed with it, and the circumstances you no doubt blame for your depression.
Of course the other disturbing facet of depression is that it is not only you that suffers, it is everyone you speak to who has to listen to your negativity. It can spread like that and you may find people avoiding you.
I believe that being around uplifting people helps, doing something productive, and positive activity helps. I think spending some effort on thinking positively - you may need to train yourself, will help.
But if you are ill with depression you really should get some help, I suggest a visit to your GP to start with, although the level of help you get is dependent on the sensitivity and supportiveness of the doctor.
Do try to ban the negative thoughts and only think and say positive things.
Good luck.

Hey mate... only a trained health professional can answer that. You can't be "addicted to depression" but you can have depression. I have been diagnosed with this illness and have been taking medication for a while... Though I truly believe now that you should not solely rely on medication but also trying to keep positive and seeing the positive things around you. I know this is not easy (belive me) it helps to have a support network around you, or someone to talk to... also I have been researching the benefits of omega 3's and depression check out www.vegepa.com and www.oprah.com for some more info. hope this helps as its not fun to do this on your own : )

You need to listen to The Smiths, followed by a large helping of Morrissey. Then top it off ( pardon the expression ) with some Nick Cave and the bad seeds,I suggest "Murder Ballads"
Then all you have to do is listen to Katrina and the waves "Walk'in on sunshine"---All will be rosey
