Because a large percentage of people have had religious beliefs force-fed to them from a very young age.
As children, they are taught that something as simple as questioning the teachings of their religion will result in them spending an eternity in unspeakable torment.

When it comes to questions of belief in a "creator" or an "afterlife" I have heard many, many different beliefs. I respect them all including the agnostics but the one I absolutely do not respect is the atheist. The reason is this. There are many things that remain out side of our limited scope of understanding. Even the brightest of human minds or the most powerful computer cannot even begin to understand many deep mysteries in the universe. Perhaps we will one day but we certainly cannot now.
That being said, all of the other belief systems admit that they cannot prove that their belief is factual. In fact, that is why it is a belief. If it could be scientifically proven it would no longer be a belief it would be a fact. Yet, atheists state unequivocally that there is no "creator" there is no "afterlife". This is a statement that simply cannot be honestly made. One could say that they don't believe there is. But that would make Atheism a religion of a sort.
Here is the problem. If there was no creator, where did everything come from? If everything always was and always will be, why could there not be a creator who always was and always will be? How can one prove that conciseness simply ceases at death? I can tell that a body is alive and then something happens and the body is dead. What was there that is not there now? Where did it go?
I believe that most athiests have another agenda. That is that they are basicaly hedonists and cannot abide anyone or anything have moral judgement over their hedonism.
The reason I believe that is simply this: If you really don't believe that there is a final judgement and an ultimate punishement for wickedness and no reward for goodness, why not pilage, rape and plunder? I mean, why not? Go ahead and do whatever you want whenever you want. If law enforcment tries to stop you, kill them. If you can't get them all, kill yourself. Why make any effort to be good? Why suffer any pain or discomfort?
Yet the athiest still survives. INTERESTING!

If man created the concept of God, how did they know the things that they wrote such as in Isaiah 40:26? (This passages reflects a knowledge of the law of conservation of energy and matter)
Or what about the fact the bible writers knew that the earth was "hanging upon nothing," as recorded in Job 26:7?
Or the water cycle? - Job 36:27, 28; Ecclesiastes 1:7; Isaiah 55:10.
What about the wind patterns? - Ecclesiastes 1:6
There are more, but these suffice to show there was an intelligence higher than human behind the writings of the Scriptures.

Because it is the truth. You have your theory we have our facts. If a person has experienced God in their life you can't convince them otherwise. I challenge you to humor me and pray to this God you don't believe in and tell him your problems with him. Yell and scream and get out your frustrations with him. What is it gonna hurt to ask him these questions instead of asking us. How would it be a waste of your time. Why are you so upset anyway? you should be laughing at us and not so upset with us. I think you are upset because somewhere deep down inside of you- in an area you may not even know exists- you know there is a God. May God soften your heart and prepare you to love him.

But what if there is afterlife. Would you take the risk and not believe and stand a chance of losing it. I would rather believe and be proved wrong than to not believe and be proved wrong. What if you miss out, just because you aren't willing to believe. That is not a risk that i am wiling to take- I don't know about you.

proly cuz they were taught that people of a different believe are crazy and to never believe them. They are being scared by the thought of going to hell. Some people wake up and realize that this is true, god is just an imaginary friend that has no power and never will.

Well I guess for you it will be a rude awakening when you are sent to h*ll. The only thing that will cease to exist will be your choice to accept Jesus and God and eternal lifie in Heaven.
Feeling sorry for you.

It's cool love. You're not gonna get the results that you are looking for. Just let them believe how they want to believe. As long as they aren't hurting anybody then to me it isn't a big deal.

It’s interesting to see that so many of us have so much to say about life after death…whilst none of us have actually experienced death to see if there is something on the other side or not..
