You can't change a man. Only he can change at his own will. People rarely change though. They come in packages. You either take the whole package or you don't. You can't pick and choose which parts you like.. Ont the other hand men with big egos should be left with their egos alone to reap their fruits. Nobody likes a stuck up man. They'll either get it or they won't. Besides, you save yourself some frustration, you know what they say about men with big egos... You can tell him to get an enlargement pill or something. If he doesn't get the hint, you need to get out of the picture, dear. No men is perfect. You either accept their faults as well and love him with all that or you don't. You can't pick which part of him to love.

Ego is actually a scale.. one one side you have completely insecure, needy and controlling. On the other side you'd think you'd find cocky and self-righteous.. but that's not it. The other side is self-confident, accepting and open minded.
Cocky and egotistical is right at the same point as insecure.. maybe even a little lower... A cocky guy needs to prove something.. he's not happy with the way he is. He has to show off and get compliments in order to validate himself. The problem with cocky is that you can't FIX them or CHANGE them. They have to figure it out on their own. ANd, typically, that's something that changes with age or when some life-altering event happens that makes them do a SELF-INITIATED gut-check.
Because telling them how they are won't phase them and neither will buying into their need for validation.

Don't disrespect them, it gets them even MORE egotistical, right to the point of their detriment. Don't correct a man in public or the presence of others, his respectability is on the line. He needs that like you need to feel pretty and attractive. It would be the same thing if he said "Now, now, don't you think you should take a smaller piece?" or "You got a nasty pimple on your forehead". I mean, you have to realize why men need to be egotistical, and be able to respect him. Men respect women, and are TAUGHT to respect women still.
