I am figuring out that I am a mutant Christian. I follow the Bible, take it seriously, am a pastor/theolog. But don't really fit into the "Fundy" box and mostly not the "Liberal" box. Are you a Christian mutant too? One who is outside the box. One who strives to be holy & follow Jesus, but isn't legalistic. One who loves people, but woun't sell your soul either?

Yes! I love logic. It points right to God from what I am learning.

Wow that sounds exactly like me. I have a lot of what some people would consider to be "radical" beliefs about Jesus Christ and Christianity. I do not feel that I fit into the realm of "what a Christian is supposed to be." And I don't care. I love Jesus Christ AND I'm not afraid to be myself. I don't have to play "Christian" to be a Christian.

Don't most Christians feel this way???? No one is perfect or can ever be perfect, but that doesn't necessarily make us mutants either. The bible isn't the end all be all to human behavior, you struggle to fit in to a "black and white" image that you believe was made for you, but there are many other aspects to religion and Christianity that you are forgetting like prayer, meditation, service, and compassion. These make up the gray areas that aren't necessarily found in your bible. Quit taking the bible so literally and try praying. You will find your answer.

I like to call my self a "child of God" instead of Christian. The term Christian has such a negative tone with the world these days. I think as Christians we should evaluate who we are and how the world perceives us. I'm always thinking outside the box with God. That is why Enoch is my Bible hero. He walked so close to God that God just took him. I strive to walk that close, too. What others think matters not to me at all. I will be the way I am no matter what. Glad to see there are others out there that live the same way.

Count me in. I'd typically say I'm a Christian with liberal beliefs.

Fundies get all the press. Maybe if we label ourselves mutants we'll get more attention LOL

It's a popular view, as other responses indicate. It is not logically tenable, but no religion is. See reference for a discussion of why.

Of course, I ally myself with none but God, who makes himself apparent in logic.
