Ecclesiastes was also made with the words of king solomon so it is definately an interesting read. Also, Matthew has stories about Jesus, and what he says is really interesting to read. A third option is Jonah, which is a short book, but entertaining. Fourth option would be Revelation, but it takes long hours of study to understand it, but when you understand it is a great read. All books are great but for interesting reads I think these are probably the best. Other books are better for history etc.

Well I can think of much more accurate and easier to read translations than the NKJV. Ill get to that tho lol. Well as a preacher myself I would consider John in the new testament a "good read". Matthew is also a very interesting read. Matthew is also the longest gospel. If your into the Old Testament I would reccomend Isaiah or Daniel. Exodous is always an attention grabber. It really depends on what your interested in. So let me break it down for you simply.Prophecy: Joshua, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, and Revalations are the main ones. Christ's Life: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. Daily Living and Church Life: Acts through 3rd John. Biblical History: Genisis through Deuteronomy. I recommend trying another translation also like the New International Version (NIV), New American Standard (NAS), and The Revised Standard Version (RSV). These are all plain English without the frill that any of the King James versions tend to have. Also the New Living Translation is a very easy to understand version. Hope this helps you. I encourage yout o keep reading the Bible. it will only bless your life and help you grow in the Lord.

I teach New Believers.

Begin with the Gospel of John. At the same time you are reading the Gospel of John, take one Psalm a day. No more than one Psalm. Dissect it, pray about it, ask God to give you understanding.

Psalms are wonderful, in that they expose every hardship, emotion, doubt, anger, fear, worship that David went through. It shows you the love relationship God wants with you. Psalm 139 is my favorite.

After you read the Gospel of John, read James. James, the author of that book, was Jesus' brother. It is full of wisdom.

Get yourself a book by John MacArthur. It's a big book, and it has "commentaries". I read my Bible with MacArthur's Commentaries next to me. It isn't preachy or opinionated, but MacArthur explains alot of things, like Jewish customs, word translations, etc. and it really helps me when I don't quite understand something.

When you are reading the Epistles (letters from John, Paul, and Peter) you must look into certain things:1, who is the letter written to? 2. When was the letter written? 3. What was the Church like, whom the letter is directed to? MacArthur's Commentaries will help you with that.

The next Gospel I would then read is Matthew.

I disagree with one answer here -- leave Daniel for later. It's deep. Before you start dwelling on the fulfilled prophesies of End Times, you need to develop your relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Why? Because after you have developed your love relationship with God, reading about End Times will not frighten you or bring you dispair. You will have God's understanding.

Get into a small group for study, too. It is awesome to bounce things off each other.

God Bless you.

Pray first..then I suggest John, then the rest of the gospels, Acts, Ephesians, James, Revelation, then fill in the blanks with the rest of the New.

It's always a great place to start.. reading the Bible

Ok I have just started reading the Bible myself. And to be honest I started a while back with Genisis, and after the first couple days I was completely not interested in reading it. Then I picked it up agian. But this time starting with Matthew. I got this recomendation from my pastor. He advised me to read the part that relates to me now (the new testament), then go back for the history lesson. I really hope that this helps you out. Good Luck and God Bless!

Depends on what you like to read. If you like history or great stories start with Genesis. There is also good history reading in Joshua-Esther. If you like poetry read Job, Psalms, Song of Solomon, or Ecclesiastes. If you want to know more about Jesus read the Gospels. If you want some practical advice about every day living read Paul's letters in the New Testament. It's all good!

Assuming you've already read the Gospels in another translation of the Bible, hands down I'd suggest Daniel.

If you haven't read any of the Gospels, I'd suggest John.

The NKJ and OKJ are probably the best english tranlations from the original Greek and Hebrew. I think start with the Gospels. Mathew. Mark, Luke and John. It is the story of Jesus. All seen from different views. Enjoy and God bless!!
