You'll be ok. If you're feeling pain, definitely go to the hospital. If you're not but feel pretty shaken, it may be good to go just to talk about it.
Cars are fixable and are completely 100% replacable.
Some states assume that the car doing the rear ending is at fault. And, in that case it would be his liability for hitting your car. And, his insurance will pay for all the damages if he's found to be liable.
Accidents do happen -- the most important thing is to get behind the wheel again and do just what you were doing - being aware of the person in front of you. If everyone did - there'd be so fewer accidents.
Good luck. Hope you're well.

If it was a bad accident or if you have any aches or anything then you should go to a doctor just to get checked I wouldnt go to the hospital, if you needed to then the cops would have had you go. If you didnt hit anybody but the guy behind you hit your car then its not your fault at all, his insurance will pay most or all of the damages to your car and if you do have to pay anyting then your insurance will pay it, thats why you have them. If they do have to pay some of it your rates may go up a little but it sounds like you didnt hit anyone so I wouldnt worry about that. Dont feel like a moron at all, this wasnt even your fault, accidents happen all the time, they happen to everybody.

It would definitely not hurt to go to the hospital because sometimes pains dont show up till later. I believe no matter what if someone rear ends you it is automatically their fault. Its crazy but I have heard that some people plan ways to get rear ended in order to get insurance money. Your not a moron, almost everyone has been in an accident of some kind. when I was 18 I was driving to college and I must have been tired because I ended up rear ending her, and she got my insurance company for a lot of money. two weeks later I happended to see her at taco bell and she was just fine, she scammed and I hate people like that.

First, realize that accidents happen - - even to the best drivers. sometimes the accidents are totally unavoidable and no matter what you would have done, you would have still been in the accident.
Next - it doesn't hurt to get checked out at the hospital. Sometimes you are so shook up at the time that you don't realize you are hurt.
If someone rear-ended you then - depending upon your insurance coverage - it is usually that person that hit you who has to pay. However, some states have coverage where your insurance pays for your damages and the other guys' insurance pays for his. It depends upon your state and the coverage available.

Go to the hospital...likely you'll have soreness appearing later even (I've totalled three cars...I know post-accident soreness can take 1-3 days to totally manifest itself and one time I had an injury show a week later). He is responsible for the damage to your car for ACD (assured clear distance). He should have been following far enough behind to be able to stop in time should it call for that. If you didn't hit the person in front of you, you're good to go.

Don't worry about these things happen, you are obviously shaken up, so go to the hospital and get yourself checked out. Yes your insurance will have to cover it, but think about that once you have calmed down and you are feeling better

first of all get checked out. second except in very rare cases the car that does the hitting pays the bills. from the sounds of it you did nothing wrong. its not your fault if the guy behind couldn't stop. you had to and you had your car under control, he didn't.
