I bleached my hair to a light canary yellow, then applied light blonde over the top, but it still is very yellow and brassy. I used quick blue bleach and wella color charm color both with a 20 volume developer. I don't think my hair can take the bleach again, so...since I dyed it is it too late to try to correct the tint with a toner? Or would opting for a slightly darker blue based blonde dye be better?

if you believe that your hair cannot take the bleach again chances are it is in bad shape right now.I would not recommend going darker as the hair will not hold the color for very long. There are options left to get your hair to that light blond that you want but they are limited, go see a reputable hairstylist, it is difficult to advise you if you should use a blue based toner without assessing the condition of your hair.BTW which wella color charm did you use 1200 or 1210 ot darker than that

if your hair is not the color you want it to be, than a toner is not going to help you. Light blond is lighter than canary yellow, the color would not have taken anyway. You should have either bleached it lighter, or put on a darker shade of blond. You use toners when you have the exact color you want, but need to get rid of a few unwanted TONES, they can't change the color.

STOP before you go any further you need to consult a professional. Often dying at home you don't get the blond result you expect. You can either visit a salon and call the number on the box to speak to a consultant directly for advice before you irreparably damage your hair.

But if you insist on doing it yourself to balance out the brassiness, the next color you choose to dye it should have the word "ash" in front of it or use a blue toner.

I have made mistake after mistake with my blond hair and I've been doing it for years. I know from past experiences you need to go a color darker. I suggest you wait for a couple of days so the color will take. After that if you want it lighter just add highlights. Good luck hope this helps!
